I haven't seen a topic strictly dedicated to pets so decided to make one.

Post The info you have collected about Pets in this topic from where to obtain them, Which are good for which class, Which are better in general and your opinion about the pet system/pets themselves.

FYI for those that didn't know once u hit lvl 35 u can get the tamer job which allows u to tame different kinds of pets outside the pet instance.

O.o that job is activated? I'm pretty sure the job window says "Coming soon" instead of what level it gives it you >_>

It is activated. I know nothing about pets at all, but I can confirm that :P

That job is available. The daily quest from the NPC is nice too.

I can't say which pet is best though (aside from the aesthetics). If you plan on investing in your pets you would be looking to getting pet skills and not relying on what it already has so... at the very least you want a green pet and work towards finding and/or buying a blue one I guess.

Just reached lvl 35 and got the taming job. I've wanted a tamed fiend pet forawhile so i headed off to where the quest monster spawns and started killing. I asked before i left and the person i asked told me that a soul can drop at anytime with or without the skill. Only people with the job will be able to catch the soul though.

So i started killing and kept killing and i'm still killing with nothing. lvl 35 and each kill gives me 78 exp. I went out here to farm him pretty much as soon as i lvled so had next to no exp in my bar. I'm now up to 33k exp.

Am i doing something wrong or am i just unlucky? If i'm unlucky is there anyway to increase the chances of it dropping a soul?

are you killing the right mob ?? its not the boss fiend that walks alone....

yep figured that had the highest possibility to be it. The person i was speaking to had already logged and no one else i saw with one returned my pm. I looked around once i saw i wasn't getting anywhere but i couldn't find any other chained fiend mobs. Its really late here though and i'm about to go to sleep so i could have missed them. where are they located?

they are located at Vidas Tear (in oblivion sea) if im not wrong

Wow, you must be really really unlucky then. O_o" Are you sure you're farming the mobs at the left lower corner of the Sea Of Oblivion map, where the swirlthingie is? I managed to get a soul in like 20 kills, but I didn't realise I didn't had the tamer job jet so I was like FFFFUUUU. Luckily a very nice person grinding there cought it for me and gave it. It's white and it sucks tho, as long as I don't find a green one I'll be sticking with the Scarab (but he looks so cool D. >>

I think this would be a nice opportunity to ask; where do you catch the flaming horse? I'm a female, and I love horses (hurrr hoarsez) and I really want one as a pet, even tho it looks like it wants to kill me. D: I heard only a certain world boss drops them which only spawns 6 times a day. Is this true? Where is that boss? If not, where do I find them?

To the OP: you can catch pets in the worldmap (only a few if you don't have the tamer job - Scarab, Khoonem and Wind Puppet and some boss for as far as I know, more if you have the tamer job) and in Creekback Valley (Scarab, Khoonem and Windpuppet), and they have certain abilities of their own when you get them. For example, the beginner ram pet can heal itself, the beginner wolf pet gives an attack increase, and the beginner turtle pet can be invincible for a few seconds. I'd pick a beginner pet based on those skills, as you'll only need them until level 30 anyways, so just pick what fits you best. Then at level 30 you can start taming pets. At that point the 'begin skill' doesn't matter much anymore, as you can teach your pet any skills you want after it reaches level 30. Ofcourse the color of the pet matters. It's white > green > blue. Blue pets have the best stats, white pets have pretty sucky stats so it would be nice to get atleast a green pet.

Isn't the Chained Demon pet from Apophis? o.O

One thing I've noticed is the pet's grade and stats are not set in stone. A well trained basic wolf pet could be better than a same level chained demon that's been sitting to rot in the pet bag. Still trying to figure out the mechanics of it all though.

Time is power for pets. The longer a pet is out, the stronger it can become. Though, that's a different mechanic than raising grade/growth. o.o

I asked about the horse from someone who had one. She said it was a 4h spawn in the lv40+ map. o.O
