I want to become a tamer, but I can't pick any option at the tamer tutor NPC in Free Harbor other then "see you". How do I get the job? And after that, how do I tame? o.o

The job is not available until you hit 35 ._> You also (of course) need an available job point.

The "general" soul capture is available from a short quest at level 30 (read on, too lazy to repeat ><)

As for how you tame, being a tamer basically gives you another version of the soul capture that you'll get via a very short quest at level 30 (it's from the npc next to the one that lets you into the pet instance IIRC).. you have to kill mobs that have the "possible to leak soul" or whatever icon next to its level (when you click on it), and when a soul does spawn after you kill the mob, just use the skill on the soul.

Tamer is a level 35 job, you go to Wind Steps (npc?) in Freedom Harbor and spend a job point. You also get a taming quest daily and it helps level you and your pet.

To tame, simply kill mobs that are tameable (Chained Demons - not dementors - in Vida's Tear, etc.) and wait for a soul to come out (maybe 10% chance). Once the soul comes out, you are able to "tame" it and get a pet.

I think it costs 5 Vigor to use the skill to tame.

But...How the hell did the people get the other pets I've seen running around then? @-@

The general soul capture skill you get from the npc next to the one that lets you into Creekbank Valley. You can use that skill to capture pets like Wind Element, Scarab, and Khonem ... but you can't capture certain pets that are reserved for Tamer soul capture.

You also get a skill called "Soul Capture" specific to the Khonen Wind Element, and Scarab pets found in the instance Creekbank valley at level 30.

You can vist this instance 3 times daily instance once you hit 30, just make sure you have lots of room in your inventory for pet soulstones.

To get a green pet, you simply have to wait 10 minutes.

To get a blue pet, you have to wait 30 minutes for hatching?...

The Khonen King/Scarab King/Whirlwind Lord all have a chance of leaving behind a soul (green, sometimes blue soulstone) that has a higher chance of giving green and blue pets as they stay in hatching longer.

Ohh right, I forgot you could also get pets without the tamer job. Thanks for the info. n.n

people say its hard to be a tamer, its unfair to say that when you re not one.
but I admit, its not a job to have when you are low level or dont have good area damage.
for example, when a mage above 65 goes
west of pyrovath village, and start casting rage on good positions, he can make
near 100 incubation points by day. so answer me how on earth you think that hard in any way?
recipe is simple:

a) make levels first.
b) apply in area damage.
c) spend all day killing/hatching in khonem and destroying to open space in your bag.

In less that 4 days (2 weekends for example) you are level 2.
In fact, much faster that ANY other job.

but DONT under any circunstance try to be a tamer below level 50 cause that s to be a noob.
dont even go creekbank valley, you will only waste your time by doing that, is a job for high lvl people.
have much better things to do when your level is low like campfires, exorcisms, got trials...
in other words what I m saying is... if you wanna have a good pet while level is still low... AUCTION.
