So this might just be me having bad luck with drops, but is there any place that is better for getting shards then other places. At the time I'm looking for Ruby Shards. Any sugestions?

Obsidian Shards: Elite Mobs lvl10-19
Ruby Shards: Elite Mobs lvl20-29
Sapphire Shards: Elite Mobs lvl30-39
Turquoise Shards: Elite Mobs lvl40-49
Amethyst Shards: Elite Mobs lvl50-59
Topaz Shards: Elite Mobs lvl60-62
Aquamarine Shards: Elite Mobs lvl65-67
Tanzanite Shards: Elite Mobs lvl 70-72

Ruby is a pain to get. There are not as many Ruby elites as Saph. Hunt them near town...and check your map. See how when you are in town if you run directly south? There are 2 there.
@ just north of town and the rest sit over the Water Wheel on the other side.
Saphs go by so much faster..i got my entire saph set in like 2 hours just realm jumping. Alot more Elites.

Ruby is actually pretty easy to get. Run along the riverbank, then cross it when you can't go any further and go back the other way. Keep doing laps and you'll have enough in no time. Once you find an elite, you can also realm-hop and clean out other incarnations of it in the same location.

actually if you go to the sea of oblivion and try to find some Lvl. 20 -30 elites and they are bound to drop ruby shards.

Do some main quests and unlock the gift tab where there are ruby shards. Also check the Devotion tab for ruby shard freebies.

also depends on ur lvl... if its too high u will not get drops... however u may change that and take one very low mamber (exp ur alt) to ur party so ur chances of drop gonne be higher...
