Does anyone have any tips on getting splinters besides buying them in th AH?

Scavenge green gear level 40+.

Based on the base stats of the gear you will get:
Health: Illyfue
Attack: Mylvada
Defense: Tytan
Mana: Vyda

This requires a job point in Scavanging.

Yes, Armorsmith requires materials from both Scavenging and Mining.

How do you get soul gems? Anyone know are they just random drops or can u make them?

for above question i suggest do war medal 1 and 2 until your artisan level 3 because soul gems level 3 easier

some mobs drops them too buy it's very rare

When scavanging does the unidentified/ identified haave any affect of how much prysms or splinters i get?

No, only the base stats matter.
