What would be the best build for a soloing PVE marksman (talent tree and stats)...for survivability, damage, etc? Thanks.

As far as the most useful for most instances, burst marksmen are typically the best. The AOE makes instances like God's Trial and Fort Khoaway a breeze. Additionally, when you are out in the open world (not in instances) burst will allow you to kill stuff faster as you hit more mobs at a single time. The con to burst is you will attract a lot of aggro, and with that aggro comes damage. You have to learn how to kite properly. There are a number of guides up on the forums (Tsukiyo put up a pretty good one that accurately describes the trees). I would use that as a starting point, and then talk to higher level MM's in game to see what they did. Personally I'm a hybrid Soul/Burst tree, but thats largely for Arena. If I were to just be PVE only, I would probably be hybrid Precision/Burst. It is my personal belief that you should only put 29 points int burst (up until you get the maximum cooldown reduction on rake of fire) and no further. The remaining points will give you minimal return, and the 55 skill I don't see as very important. Instead, take advantage of some of the points in other trees, which have great return on lower tiers. Personally I went for the accuracy and survivability buffs in the Soul Tree (as well as 15s CD reduction on quick reload). Thats because I play in the Arena frequently, and as such, its more important to me than the dps improvement from the precision tree. If you are going PVE I would suggest 29 points in burst, and the remaining 22 (assuming you are building for 70 which is the current cap until August) into precision. The improved hunter's mark is pretty good.

Is it ok to talent into precision first then later burst? Or not good at all?

usually its advisable to go prec till 35+ or so when u can actually aoe and survive. I went prec till i was 48 (to get 2sec CD of aoe atk)

I honestly wouldn't go burst until lvl 48 like the previous poster mentioned. Honestly, I personally stayed precision until level 60, but in retrospect, I should have changed to burst at 48. If you are just leveling up, go Precision until lvl 48, use a talent compass and go burst at 48 and then add points to either Soul or Precision afterwards. All points after the 2 sec CD in burst IMO should go into other trees. This is without seeing the 70+ talents however, so I don't know what an optimal build will look like after 70+. So if you are relatively lower level, and already in precision, I'd say stick with it until 48. After that, you can change whenever.

Thanks all this post helped ALOT I was lvl 30 all burst... dumped all my point into precision and mobs take half the time to kill. One question though should I put my next points into Earth infusion or soul focus.... or something else. I'm a PVE only marksman

Honestly, I think you can use just about whatever precision skills until 48 and then change talents to burst. The keys for precision MM's are the hunter's mark and CD reduction for Mind Flaying bullet. After that, its whatever.

doesn't matter because you can't use skill pts until lv20
