I've been concentrating on primarily the Wolf. He's level 25. Somewhere along the way, I received a scroll and a crystal.

-- The scroll only seems to work if my pet dies but my pet has died before and I just recalled him so I don't understand that.
-- The crystal I used while talking to the pet trainer in town - it disappeared from my bag however I don't see that the pet gained any new skills as promised.

Could someone explain how do you get new skills for your pet?

Also - care there certain mobs that you cannot train? Obviously, I would think that Elites are not trainable. I'm guessing those Puppet Storms are not trainable either. But so far, even though I have the Pet Training skill, I have never seen any bluish haze around the corpse of a mob that I've killed.

Could someone perhaps offer an explanation? Maybe I'm not using this skill right???

Thanks for any ideas and help

You may not want to focus on your wolf... When you get to level 30 you can enter creekbank valley and get a way better pet. Just look at the pet score on your wolf, if I'm correct it should be around 400-500?
The ones you get from creekbank are around 900-1500? Sometimes even 2000.
The crystal your speaking of I'm quessing was the star of hope. They only have a chance to upgrade a talent >.< It would have most likely failed on any other pet though anyway.. mine failed on my green pet.
As for the tamable pets, you need to be level 35 to get the profession. You can only tame pets that have a little orange mushroom? like thing under their picture.. maybe it's a little collar I'm not sure I didn't take the time to look.
In Sea of Oblivion at Vida's Tear you can tame Chained Demons, Kohem or whatever around the desert of echoes and scarab behind the tomb of glory. They only have a small chance of dropping a soul.

I have no idea what scroll your talking about though.. sorry D:
Hope I helped though Ohh and you get skills from creekbank valley after killing a boss, you roll the dice as usual

trainable mobs will have a little circle icon on there target window.. they have a chance when killed to spawn a soul version of them .. its these that ya can use your train skill on.

two of this sort ya will run in to along the main quest line wind puppets, round or little before 30. the keohenm (killed its name close enough. little ram headed men sword and shield) little after 33.. or run round and find em at what ever lvl. that ya have the skill ta capture them. mentioned them so ya can identify other trainables. by example of the extra icon in the target window.

The scroll is called a Dawn Scroll... You probably figured this out by now but for future reference you take it to the pet lady and it pretty much puts your pet back to level 1.
Not sure what else.
